Halikounas in Corfu

Halikounas beach is the longest sandy beach (more than 3 km long) of Corfu island, located approximately 25 km southwestern of Corfu town and 5 km away from Agios Georgios resort.

Halikounas is considered one of the most beautiful coastal areas of the Ionian and looks almost deserted offering some nice and isolated spots on either side of the beach for total privacy. The beach is ideal for families and those who love kiteserfing as well.

The road separates the beach from the famous Korission Lake. Korission Lagoon and its environs, protected by the Natura 2000 treaty, include an unusual forest of prickly juniper and many sand dunes which reach heights in excess of 15 metres, making it one of the main attractions of the area. The lagoon is also the home for numerous endangered bird species, nestled in the midst of green rolling hills where one comes across verdant olive groves, citrus orchards and beautiful vineyards.
