Ermones in Corfu

This dramatic cove on the west coast of Corfu is one of the places claiming to be the place where Odysseus landed and found the lovely Princess Nausica and her ladies washing their clothes.

It is a favorite place for golfers to stay as the golf course in the Ropa Valley is only a few minutes away, so they can indulge their hobby whilst other family members enjoy the clear blue sea or pool. There is a welcoming clubhouse serving drinks and food and the course is challenging enough to occupy many golfers who return annually.

Two unspoiled villages in the neighborhood which sit high on the hill overlooking the valley and are well worth exploring are Vatos and Giannades (home of the famous Theotoky wine estate which can be visited and the wine sampled).

Ermones is also near two of Corfu’s loveliest beaches- Myrtiotissa, the small secluded bay which has attracted naturists for generations, and Glyfada- a mecca for many of the younger Corfiots who cluster in the beach bars in the evening to watch the sunset.

Walkers can use it as a base for exploring the west of the island- going to Liapades (home of the Cricketers Taverna), one of Corfu’s larger villages and with an enchanting cove, and Pelekas- the view from the Kaiser’s Throne viewpoint makes the climb worthwhile.

There are many ‘secrets’ in the area for you to discover, unlike in some of the resorts which were developed earlier and display all their wares immediately!
